Orange NANUK 935 Pro Photo Kit case

01 / NANUK

NANUK 935
Pro Photo Kit

The case that comes with me.

Anytime I’m going anywhere on a shoot, the 935 is coming with me. It gives me enough room for a serious amount of equipment without worrying about everything getting crushed, wet, or thrown around during transportation. The orange color makes it easy to spot when a room is full of black cases and bags.

The Pro Photo Kit setup keeps the equipment organized instead of turning one large case into a gear hunt. I can get to what I need without digging through the entire thing. It feels solid, and after using it regularly, I trust it with my equipment. It has become part of my standard setup—not something I only bring out for bigger jobs.

The only thing I wish NANUK offered is an air-filled wheel option. New York sidewalks are rough: uneven pavement, cracked concrete, curbs, subway entrances. A little more cushion would make a heavy case even easier to move. Besides that, the 935 has been one of the most dependable cases I own.

Orange NANUK 905 compact case with cubed foam

03 / NANUK

NANUK 905

Small protection for a smaller kit.

The 905 is the smaller case in my setup. I use it when I don’t need one of the larger cases and want protected space for smaller equipment and accessories without carrying the 935 just for a few items.

The cubed foam lets me set the interior up around whatever I’m carrying instead of letting smaller gear move around loose. I also like that the orange color is easy to identify. It fills a specific role: compact, solid protection that is easy to store and simple to grab.

NANUK 940

The hardware case.

The 940 is where I keep my C-stand knuckles, super clamps, and Joby arms. That equipment is heavy, awkward, and easy to scatter across different bags. A dedicated case means I know exactly where the production hardware is when I need it.

The Pro Photo Kit setup gives those accessories a real system instead of a pile of metal in an empty box. It is not a case I take every time I leave the house, but for production work it keeps the heavier accessories separate from the camera gear and makes the whole setup easier to manage.

NANUK N-PVD 18L camera backpack

05 / NANUK

N-PVD 18L

The everyday backpack, right beside the 935.

The N-PVD 18L is the backpack I use the most. Anytime I’m going somewhere on a shoot, I usually have it with me. It carries what I’m actively using without feeling like I’m hauling a giant camera bag, which makes it useful for production days and regular everyday work.

I keep the essentials in the backpack and leave the larger equipment in the 935. The N-CUBIK T1 pouch keeps smaller accessories from disappearing inside the bag. The N-PVD 18L is not something I bought and forgot about—it is one of the main parts of my everyday photography setup.

NANUK N-PVD 6L sling bag

06 / NANUK

N-PVD 6L

The street photography sling.

When I’m walking around New York to photograph, I don’t want a full production bag or a backpack loaded with gear I probably won’t use. The 6L sling gives me enough room for the essentials and stays out of the way while I move through the city.

It is easy to carry, easy to reach into, and small enough that I stay focused on taking pictures instead of thinking about the bag. It is not for a full shoot or a large camera setup. For street photography, casual shooting, and going out light, it is the bag I reach for.

02 / camera + motion

Camera
& Glass

The camera, lenses, support, motion gear, and light I actually build around the X-H2 when a job calls for more than a camera on a strap.

Viltrox / portrait85mm

08 / VILTROX

AF 85mm
f/1.8 STM

Compression and separation for portraits.

The Viltrox AF 85mm f/1.8 is the lens I reach for when I want a more compressed look and separation between my subject and the background. On the X-H2 it works especially well for portraits and tighter details.

The 85mm focal length requires room to step back, so it is not the lens I use for everything. But when I have that space, it gives me the perspective and separation I’m looking for.

Viltrox / portrait56mm

09 / VILTROX

AF 56mm
f/1.2 Pro

A natural portrait perspective with real low-light range.

The Viltrox AF 56mm f/1.2 Pro gives me a portrait perspective that feels more natural and flexible than an 85mm equivalent. On the X-H2, it works for portraits, lifestyle work, and tighter everyday photography.

The f/1.2 aperture gives me control over the background and lets me create separation when I’m working with available light. I would rather have the extra size for the look and flexibility.

10 / VILTROX

AF 33mm
f/1.4 V2

The dependable middle ground.

The Viltrox AF 33mm f/1.4 V2 is one of the most useful everyday lenses in my setup. On the X-H2 it gives me a natural field of view for street photography, portraits, environmental shots, and general shooting.

It is wide enough to show some surroundings while still giving me control over the subject. When I want one lens and do not want to overthink the setup, this is the one I trust.

Viltrox / street28mm

11 / VILTROX

AF 28mm
f/4.5

Small, wide, and easy to bring along.

The Viltrox AF 28mm f/4.5 is a small lens for walking around and shooting casually. On the X-H2 it gives me a wider view without turning the setup into something large.

For street photography, travel, and everyday shooting, it is easy to bring and does not add much weight.

Tilta / Fujifilm X-H2Full cage

12 / TILTA

Full Camera
Cage

My favorite cage for the X-H2.

The Tilta full camera cage for the Fujifilm X-H2 is my favorite cage I have tried for this camera. I have used cages from Condor Blue, SmallRig, 8Sinn, and Wooden Camera, and the Tilta is the one that feels the most secure.

It is probably the least flexible of the cages I have tried, but that is also why it feels so secure. Once the X-H2 is mounted, it feels like the cage and camera are working as one piece. I absolutely love Tilta gear.

Hydra Alien
Mini Ultimate

For moving shots a normal handheld setup cannot reach.

The Tilta Hydra Alien Mini Ultimate Kit makes more sense once you use it. I use it with my Fujifilm setup when I need moving shots or camera positions that would be difficult with a normal handheld setup.

It takes planning and setup time, but when I need the kind of movement it is designed for, it gives me a lot more control. It feels built for actual production work.

Spark Z3
Flash

A compact light option with a little personality.

The Viltrox Spark Z3 gives me another option when I need more control over the light. I use it to add light, shape a portrait, or make sure I am not dependent on whatever light happens to be available.

The Tundra Green color gives it more personality than the usual black accessory. It is a small detail, but it makes the setup feel a little more like mine.
